I documented Idris Elba and Sabrina Dhowre Elba, during their visit to a development project in Sierra Leone, supported by the International Fund For Agricultural Development (IFAD). The initiative provides financing and training to boost food production in rural areas after Ebola.
Award-winning actor, director, musician and humanitarian Idris Elba and model and activist Sabrina Elba were appointed United Nations Goodwill Ambassadors for IFAD on Monday the 20th of April 2020.
They also helped launch a global fund aimed at preventing the corona virus crisis from becoming a food and poverty crisis in remote rural areas. “This COVID-19 crisis has shown us we are only as safe as our most vulnerable people," said Sabrina. “Global action is a matter of self-interest," added Idris. "As long as the pandemic is still raging anywhere, it will pose a threat everywhere. IFAD needs more assistance to carry on the work that is desperately needed to keep food systems operating in rural areas if we are to come out of this crisis together and avoid needless hunger and suffering.”
